Standard Settings determine how applications not listed in the Exceptions List will behave.
If you check the "Automatically Hide" checkbox, an application will automatically be hidden when you switch to other applications.
In the preferences, there is an option to temporarily disable the "Automatically Hide" feature when the shift key is pressed.
If you check the "Show All Windows" checkbox, all windows will be brought forward when you switch to that application. Currently in Mac OS X, this only happens when you click the Application icon in the Dock.
II. EXCEPTIONS LIST
Any applications listed in the Exceptions List will ignore the Standard Settings in favor of the ones set for that application.
Lets say, for example, you have the "Automatically Hide" checkbox under the Standard Settings group unchecked, but there is an application you do want to automatically hide. You would add it to the Exceptions List and check the "Automatically Hide" checkbox under the application's icon.
There are 2 ways to add an application to the Exceptions List:
1.) Drag the application from the Finder to this application.
2.) Clicking the "Add" button and selecting the application from the popup menu, provided that it is currently running. You may also select "Choose…" from the popup menu to add an application that is not running.
III. FORCE QUIT KEY
By checking the "Press “Option-Control-Escape” to terminate the current application" checkbox under the Preferences tab, you can press Option-Control-Escape at any time to quit the current application.
IV. LAUNCH AT LOGIN
Check the "Launch at Login" checkbox to have App Presto automatically launch when you log in.
V. HOW APP PRESTO WORKS
App Presto is made up of 2 applications.
The first application is a configuration utility with graphical user interface. This is the application that has a window with the various options in it.
The second application is a daemon, or background application, that runs even after the configuration utility has been quit. To disable App Presto entirely, uncheck the "On" button at the top of the configure window.
